Sonja reflects on her experience

When taking off from Amsterdam Airport, and watching the Dutch coastline disappear beneath the clouds below, I am reminded of the people who in 1940 so desperately tried to reach England.

I am grateful to simply sit in an airplane, warm and dry. When I land in Los Angeles, I am grateful for being let into the United States of America, without having to navigate on all fours through a hole in the fence in the middle of the night. I hope my mother’s story will inspire you when you find yourself hopeless. Upon reading this, I hope you realize the truth of what has happened. Be thankful and grateful for what you have and remember to never surrender.  Liliane Pelzman
